Tara Nix, a dedicated public servant from Birmingham, Alabama, has proudly served her community as a city constable for over 20 years. Known for her integrity, dependability, and deep commitment to public safety, Tara has become a trusted figure in local law enforcement. Her decades of experience in the field have given her a comprehensive understanding of community needs and the importance of building strong relationships between residents and city officials.

In addition to her role as a constable, Tara is the owner and operator of a group home, where she provides support and care to individuals in need of a stable living environment. This hands-on experience has given her a unique perspective on the challenges faced by vulnerable populations, as well as the complexities of managing services, resources, and staff. Tara’s work in the group home setting demonstrates her compassion, problem-solving skills, and commitment to creating systems that work for everyone—qualities that would make her an exceptional and effective city official.

Tara Nix Bio

Tara Nix, a proud native of Birmingham, Alabama, has devoted her life to service, community, and faith. With an unwavering dedication to helping others, Tara has spent decades making a meaningful impact across education, mental health care, civic leadership, and ministry. She worked faithfully for Birmingham City Schools for 17½ years as a printer and print shop clerk, ensuring that the materials and tools needed to support education were always in place. She also served as an educational secretary at both Wenonah Elementary School and Smith Middle School, where her professionalism, warmth, and efficiency left a lasting impression on staff, students, and families alike. Beyond the school system, Tara extended her care and compassion to some of the community’s most vulnerable populations by operating a boarding home for the mentally ill and disabled for over 18 years. Her heart for service and advocacy made her a beacon of support, stability, and kindness to those who needed it most.

Tara has also held the position of Constable in Jefferson County for more than 24 years, serving her district with integrity, commitment, and a deep respect for justice. Her civic engagement continues through active memberships with both the Citizens Coalition and the Rotary Club, where she contributes to community initiatives and partnerships that aim to uplift and empower Birmingham residents. A passionate supporter of youth and education, Tara has been a parent supporter of Huffman High School football and a PTA supporter at Huffman Middle School, constantly encouraging the development and success of young people in her community. In addition to her many roles, she consistently volunteers her time feeding the homeless at Lynn Park, showing love and generosity through action. Tara is a devoted member of New Rising Star Church, where she serves faithfully as a Deaconess, offering spiritual guidance, prayer, and support to her church family. She is also a proud member of the Voices of Praise (VOP) choir, using her voice to glorify God and inspire others through music and worship.
